How to Eat More while Aiming to Maintain that Healthy Weight

In this day and age, the use of weight loss supplements has been rampant. These weight loss products are the latest craze people are opting to follow because of their easy access and convenience for usage. Most advertisement claims of these weight loss products cite that they are effective and the revolutionary road to weight loss. They even flaunt organic ingredients to work well with dieters in a healthy way as it can induce weight loss permanently and sustain such results without the negative side effects.

Actually this type of weight loss aid is not new. They have been in the market since time immemorial. But even so, our recommendation on achieving a healthy and long term weight loss is by incorporating an exercise regimen and healthy choices of food in our day to day life.

Exercise routines and means are an easy access. We can even set a few minutes every day for jogging or brisk walking and it already counts as a good fat burner. It is however with the choosing of food types that tends to confuse most dieters especially that there are many fad diets being offered on the weight loss market. Sometimes because of hype advertisement they are mistaken as an effective means to lose weight.

As mentioned, there are many diet plans being offered in the market. But most health and diet experts usually recommend the intake of a high-fiber diet. It is said to promote a lot of benefits for one's health as well as weight management aid. It has been known to promote cleansing, enhances health of the cardiovascular system and provides a wellness on the performance of the digestive system. Weight loss is indeed a possibility because it helps sweep away the fats, calories and cholesterol that we have from the foods that we eat as well as those that have already accumulated in the body.

Fiber has two types: the soluble (dissolves in water) and the insoluble (do not dissolve in water). These fibers are great for maintaining the texture of one's skin and health condition. They pass through digestion without being absorbed by the body and even help in eliminating those toxins through bowel movements.

In this light, a dieter can consume as much fiber as they want without fearing caloric overload. On the other hand, fiber foods are very filling so dieters take much longer time before they would feel like munching on foods again. Fiber is found on most foods such as in a wide variety of nuts, vegetables, fruits, and the likes. It does not mean that going for fiber eliminates the need for meat.

Actually, the only no-no meat inclusion is one that is laden with too much fat. These foods are not easily digested by the body and even accumulate if consumed in excessive portion. This is the reason why people are visible of fatty layers particularly in the abdominal area.

Since Thanksgiving was declared as an official yearly holiday in 1941, people have developed a trend of decorating their houses and lawns or yards with items related to the wonderful fall and harvest season. These decorations originated from several old European customs; when people celebrated the end of the harvest season; while the twentieth century gave birth to another sort of items.

These are decorations like bundles of cornstalks and fodder shocks usually set round with vegetables and fruits: pumpkins, gourds, cushaw and other Autumn items that we can see on the lawns or yards of a lot of houses.

A great example is the "wicker man", made out from straw or wicker, filled with fruits from the harvest that was burned in the honor of the gods; which has been inspired by an old European pagan custom.

Another of those decorations stemming from these old customs is the wreath. A wreath was made out of woven grapevines or thin oak limbs and was generally decorated with wooden pine cones, oak leaves, miniature Indian corn, acorns and many other natural items from the Autumn season.

The twentieth century opened a new era of profit to entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to sell more detailed decorations items for Thanksgiving, such as tableware, table cloth, decorated with fall shapes, candles, artificial vegetation, ornamental lights, and so much more! You can buy cute little "Tom Turkey" stand-ups to sit on your tables and pictures of happy settlers and native American folks gathered around a table enjoying a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner. Ready-made fodder shocks, fall wreaths, pine cones, ears of wealth, oak leaves, miniature Indian corn, acorns are available in any retail store and even at the local road side flea market or farmer's market.

Obviously, if you want to save a lot of money while having some fun, you can create your Thanksgiving decorations by yourself.

Homemade Thanksgiving Craft #1: The Fodder shock

Building a fodder shock is very easy. You just have to get a good number dried corn stalks, generally left in a corn field after a harvest, and bind them in the midsection of the bundle to create some kind of 'tepee' shaped bunching.

Select the area of your garden or yard where you will stand the fodder shock and sit a scarecrow close to it. Don't forget to add some Autumn details like pumpkins, gourds, and diverse winter squashes.

Make Your Own Scarecrow

To build scarecrows just bind two sticks firmly together forming a cross. Put a long sleeved shirt on the sticks - preferably a jean or flannel shirt - as well as an old pair of pants. You might want to add a few more details like gardening gloves or shoes... Make a head by stuffing an old pillow case or cloth sack with papers, old rags or fiberfill. Draw a face on the head and then stick the head on top of the upright stick, binding it at the base of the sack to the stick. Place an old hat on it and ... that's it!

Head alternative: use a jack-o-lantern.
